The Catalina 27 is a great boat for casual racing or cruising the Salish Sea islands. It
is one of the most popular sailboats ever built. The manufacturer,
Catalina Yachts, is still in business after almost 50 years and is considered one of
the premier American yacht builders. The Catalina 27 is a proven sailboat that keeps its value. She is easy to handle and has a comfortable cabin with six feet of headroom.
Liberty has an inboard diesel engine that has been conscientiously maintained. She starts easily and has excellent oil pressure. All running lines lead to the cockpit. She has a Force 10 propane cabin heater and a two-burner propane stove. A tiller pilot, a dinghy and other equipment are included.
I have sailed this boat over 20 years ago and it has served my family well. The previous owner cared for the boat and made many improvements. I continued that tradition and have made more improvements over the years including:
- Replaced the original water tank with a better placed and larger tank
- Backed all stanchions and replaced and rebedded most deck hardware
- Removed and refurbished the mast, including new internal wiring, masthead casting, spreader brackets, sheaves, masthead light and marine radio antenna
- Re-routed house wiring out of the bilge
- Upgraded the chainplates
- Upgraded the spreader brackets
- Replaced the head
- Upgraded the propane system
- Improved the icebox insulation
